Glucan Biorenewables
Converting Biomass into High-Value Chemicals
Early-stage start-up Glucan Biorenewables, LLC is using gamma-Valerolactone (GVL), a plant-based solvent developed at the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center, to help convert biomass into three streams of high-value industrial chemicals. GlucanBio's unique process could advance production of economically viable biofuels and the valuable renewable chemical products used to manufacture plastics, rayon, and insulating materials for electronics.
As of June 17, 2022, the company was no longer operating, according to Pitchbook.
