Ostrom received his Ph.D., fromMemorial University of Newfoundland, in 1992 on biogeochemical cycling in oceanic and lake ecosystems. His research focuses on the interaction of organisms with their chemical and physical environments. He is also faculty for MSU's Environmental Science and Policy Program.
