Mullet completed his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, Champaign in 1980 and Postdoc. at Rockefeller University from 1980 to 1983. He joined Texas A&M in 1983. His research focuses on building genome maps and DNA diagnostic microarrays/chips for analysis of global gene expression and biodiversity.
