We welcome applicants who are dedicated to cutting-edge science and engineering research. These positions will work with Dr. Ding in the development of imaging techniques using Atomic Force Microscopy, single molecule spectroscopy, and Coherent Raman Scattering Microscopy for in vivo and in situ characterization of plant cell walls, biomass degradation enzymes, and microbes.

These positions are available for one year with possible renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications for these positions are:

  • PhD in physics, Chemistry, Plant Biology, Bioengineering, or related field

Required Education/Experience:

  • Position 1: requires a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, or related field. Hands-on experience in lasers, optics, and spectroscopy. Proficiency with software tools like Matlab, Labview, and other computation tools for image analysis. Desired experience in imaging biomaterials, such as plant cell walls, living tissues, or cells.
  • Position 2: requires a Ph.D. in Plant Biology, Bioengineering, or related field. Previous experience in molecular biology of plants or biomass conversion technology. Desired experience in plant cell wall biochemistry and biochemical processes of biomass conversion to biofuels and biomaterials.
