Postdoctoral Position in Microbial Systems and Synthetic Biology

Description: A postdoctoral research opportunity is available in the Landick lab for a highly motivated, recent PhD scientist interested in synthetic biology, gene regulation, and genome engineering across multiple scales. The research is funded by the DOE Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) and uses multi-pronged biodesign and analysis (computational design, synthetic evolution, HT-sequencing-enabled analyses, chemical genomics, and quantitative proteomics) to create new microbes for synthesis of bioproducts and biofuels. The right candidate will become a member of an extensive and integrated GLBRC research community with many opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborations. As a member of the Landick lab, a new postdoc will also become part of a energetic and highly interactive research team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative, motivated researcher to train for an independent research career in 21st century microbial sciences. An ideal candidate will have strong quantitative skills and basic knowledge of statistical and bioinformatic methods and algorithms. Aptitude and a desire to learn bioinformatics may be sufficient for the right candidate with a strong background in microbial genetics or biochemistry.
