Administrative Associate Director

This position supports the Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI), the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC), and all other programs which are housed within the WEI.

The Administrative Associate Director will provide administrative leadership and professional oversight to the WEI and is listed as key personnel in the GLBRC. This individual will manage the human resources, financial management, and pre- and post-award functions for the WEI and GLBRC and its subcontractors.

This position reports directly to the WEI Business Engagement Director and interacts collaboratively with the WEI and GLBRC Directors, GLBRC Associate Director, Scientific Director, and GLBRC and WEI faculty.

Specific areas of responsibility for the Administrative Associate Director include:

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation - As a trusted member of WEI leadership, participate in the development and management of Institute wide goal-setting, long-range planning, process development and policy implementation
  • Research Administration and Support - Serve as Institute expert on pre and post award research administration. Collaborate with division and campus offices, PIs, support staff and WEI Leadership to ensure sponsored research compliance
  • Financial and Personnel Management of WEI and GLBRC - Act as chief financial advisor to the WEI Director, WEI Associate Director, and GLBRC Research Program Director by overseeing budgeting processes and reporting. Provide direct day-to-day management of WEI Business Office Personnel
  • GLBRC Business Operations Director - Serve as primary business contact for GLBRC grant, collaborating with UW's Research and Sponsored Programs office, DOE Chicago contractual office, and subawardee institutions to ensure administrative structure, resources, and policies comply with institution, state, and federal requirements and grant specific terms and conditions
  • Facilities - Provide fiscal oversight and personnel management of WEI building operations
