Sato oversees the characterization of deconstructed biomass by high-throughput fermentation and chemical genomics studies, as well as performs genetic engineering and testing of strains for stress tolerance. In addition, he develops and characterizes yeast strains for IBA production from glucose and xylose in collaboration with other GLBRC labs. Sato also oversees the operations of GLBRC’s Experimental Fermentation Lab with Yaoping Zhang.
