Hegg is a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology. He received his Ph.D. in 1996, from University of Wisconsin Madison. Was awarded with the NSF Career Award in 2004 and the Cottrell Scholars Award in 2002. Research focuses on biosynthesis and activation of small molecules.
