GLBRC METABOLOMICS LAB SUPPORT

This position will be responsible for providing data set results to Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) submitters using an HPLC and a GC instrument that run on 24/7 basis within the Wisconsin Energy Institute laboratory space. The lab is a dedicated service lab that supports Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) departments. The individual hired must be able to work independently as well as with team members and troubleshoot and fix HPLC and GC issues and follow all GLBRC protocols. Communication among team members is required.

This position offers a great opportunity to learn and grow your skill set as part of a knowledgeable team in a great research environment. Technical skills training and the operation of new instrumentation and equipment will be provided as needed.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
*Operating a GC/MS and HPLC instrument
*Preparing HPLC mobile phase as needed
*Preparing Standards, QC samples and client's samples
*Maintaining sample priority queue, including accommodation of high priority sample sets
*Coordinating sequence tables for the running of multiple sets across both instruments
*Calculating standard calibration curves, checking integration of peaks and correcting if necessary, and analyzing samples using a calibration curve
*Assisting with method development for GC and HPLC
*Preparing sample results in Excel spreadsheets
*Assisting with GC-MS and HPLC maintenance, including replacement of column, septum, liner, and syringes for the required instrument.
